I've been an Entrepreneur one way or another for my whole life. It all started with a paper route when I was 12. By the time I gave it up, the newspaper had to divide it into 3 smaller routes just to get kids willing to do it!
Well, after college, I suppressed my entrepreneurial instincts and went to work in "Corporate America" for many years working my way up the corporate ladder while trying several part-time entrepreneurial efforts. Finally about 15 years ago, I got laid-off and needed a plan FAST. What better time to resurrect what I had buried many years before, my entrepreneurial spirit. We crossed our fingers and created our new company, providing technology consulting services to small to mid-size businesses. We’d done our research and knew it was the right time to be offering our services to the local business community.
Of course, we made many mistakes along the way and learned from those mistakes. One of the big ones that continually held us back was funding. You see, we chose to self-fund. Why? Because, we thought our only options were a bank loan (no, thanks!) or giving up substantial equity to a venture capitalist (again, no thanks). The result was MUCH slower growth of the company than should have been.
Well, now we know there are many other options for funding and because we know there are thousands of businesses out there who need funding and thousands of others who don't even know they need funding, we decided to team up and provide both the funding and the education necessary for businesses to get the funding they need at terms where all parties benefit. |
